Two friends, Vijay (Sri Ram) and Sophia (Saranya Naag) fall in love after discover their liking for each other. But, the relationship gets into problems when one of the couple tries to disagree with the idea of marriage at a point of time. How the pair comes out this trauma is told with a 20-minute gripping climax that has no dialogue at all!
‘Mazhaikalam’ was much hyped for actress Saranya Nag’s nude act and a dialogue less climax. But, the film could not live up to the hype and expectations… Thanks to the predictable scenes and loose-end plot that makes the script dull!
The performances of Saranya Naag and Sri Ram (student of Koothu-p-pattarai) are not up to the mark. Even the comedy track of Ganja Karuppu could not create an interest in the film.
Jaya Sri and Krishnakumar do their part well.
The over-discussed nude scene could not evoke any flutter in the viewers’ mind. Again the script is to be blamed!
Music by Premanand (songs) and Johnson (rerecording) is just average. The only big plus in the film is the camera work. Akilan gets the pat on his back for shouldering the responsibility of providing the needed emotion with his visuals even though the script failed when at places.
‘Mazhaikalam’, what a poetic title? But, the film could not stand up to it!
Better luck next time, Mr. S Deepan!
