The famous Malayalam film producer Navodaya Appachan (88) passed away. The death was at Lakeshore Hospital Cochin on Monday at 6.45pm. He was admitted in Hospital on April18. The producer of India’s first 3D film ‘Mydear kuttichatthan’ was Navodaya Appachan. He was the man who done new experiments in Malayalam film and famous in the role of producer of megahit films. Navodaya Appachan was the producer of South India’s first cinemascope film ‘Thacholi Ambu’. South India’s first 70mm film ‘Padayottam’ was also produced by Navodaya Appachan.
Navodya Appachan also directed some films in Malayalam apart from production. The films are Tahcholi Ambu, Kadathanatu Makkam,Mamankkam, Thekadal.
He was the man who introduced mega star Mamooty,MohanLal, Shankar, director fazil, Sibi Malayali,Priyadarshan, T. K.rajeev Kumar, music director Jery Amaldev, Moham Sitara to Malayalam film industry and they carved their own name in the industry through his films.
Film industry respects him by giving J.C. Daniel award on 2010. He was also the president of Kerala Film Chambers of Commerce for many years. His film ‘Mydear Kuttichathan’ got President’s gold medal.
Chief Minister Ooman chandy and opponent leader V.S. Achuthanadan have done condolence in the sad demise of Navodya Appachan. His sad demise was indeed a big loss to Malayalam film industry
