Parie Kannada Movie Review

This is a three layer cinema. The distillery war, love affair and religious customs going in the wind are tucked in this film ‘Parie’. The main focus is on a Brahmin boy Bharadwaj (Rakesh) who falls in love with ‘Parie’ (Nivedhitha) moves to distillery factory of Sumedha (Harshika Poonacha).

Bharadwaj throws his tradition and customs cut off the sacred thread (Janivara) and joins the Lambani troupe where he learns the trick of making liquor. When Lambani troupe leader announces that his daughter Parie marries Valia (Sathya) of the same troupe it is a shock to Bharadwaj. It is a forced marriage for Parie and Bharadwaj leaves the Lambani locality and joins the Sumedha distillery as a worker. He rises to the level of one of the finest Blenders. The experience he gained in making illicit liquor in the camp of Lambani comes to his help.

Sumedha on her 25th birthday falls in love with Bharadwaj but she compromise with her competitor Chandrakanth (Nagakiran) results in another heart break for Bharadwaj.

Hurt with the developments Bharadwaj comes back to meet his father and he has turned mad. Valia and gang on the return of Bharadwaj beat him black and blue. The Lambani leader comes with mentally sick Parie to look at the badly beaten Bharadwaj. It is miraculous come back to Bharadwaj in life for a happy ending cinema.

That’s how the ‘Blender’ life returns from ‘Blunder’!

ANALYSIS:

Sudhir Attavar has not organized the screenplay to make it convincing. The attachment to love and sexual hunger he has given is a big bore at places. Time consuming director without telling the things quickly is Sudhir Attavar.

The first half he has not told anything big but gives four songs spreading to all the lead actors of the film. The customs and traditions are thrown in the wind. The director consoles the grieved audience for such a step later on. Bharadwaj cutting off the sacred thread after seeing his father fulfilling the sexual hunger with a Lambani tribal again pulls back the sacred thread and accept the customs. Very soon he is again reunited with Lambani community Parie.

From the days of ‘Samskara’ making films against the Brahmin principles is happening because the stiff opposition is not given to check persons like Sudhir Attavar. The mad father does even the ‘Pinda Pradhana’ for his son (when living) in this film and that inadvertently reminds the ‘Ghatashradda’ film. Such hurting the Brahmin tradition and customs was not wanted for the film.

It is the days of looking things at straightforward approach. For the heck of making a film that too in protracted style such unwanted, unacceptable and illogical things are attempted only in cinema.

Sudhir Attavar winning points are in the selection of songs, good youngsters who are dare enough to hug, kiss and enjoy, lovely cinematography of Ananth Urs are redeeming features of the film.

Throughout the film striking aspect is satisfying the thirst of sex. The tender love or pure love does not come before the eyes. In case Sudhir Attavar is under the impression such scenes would bring audience he is wrong.

Introducing the characters of Sathya, Sharat Lohitashva the director has wasted the effort of good actors without giving good scope.

Fitting dialogues at right places are also missing. For the roles of Rakesh, Harshika Poonacha, Nagakiran and Nivedhitha the dialogues should have been in the higher level.

PERFORMANCES:

Rakesh Adiga in dispatching the sexual hunger looks well set. In action scenes he does not fit for lack of proper build of muscles. He looks so weak. Harshika Poonacha is the best among all because she makes her scenes very serene and underplays with ability. She also looks very sweet in the role of a distillery factory proprietor.

Nivedhitha looks very sexy in her appearances. Acting is concerned she has no proper scenes. In the naughty scenes she is too good.

Srinivasa Prabhu as Lambani leader is quite OK. Mandya Ramesh over acting is torture. Nagakiran looks handsome but acting is nil in him. The presence of Usha Utup as pop singer does not add to the film in any way.

TECHNICALITY:

Superb is the work of Veera Samarth and Ananth Urs. Veera Samarth music has given three lovely tunes. Mugila Mathu Musuladhare….is the best of the lot, Minuguthidhe ….is romantic and ever green poem of KS Narasimhaswamy Ninna Premada Pariye….sung by Dr SPB is lovely.

The flash back technique used at places is confusing. The darkness used for the film is impressive.

Last but not the Least – God only can save the producers but not the director like Sudhir Attavar!
