Golden Kela Awards for Deepika Padukone and Imran Khan

Imran-Khan-Deepika-PadukoneBollywood celebrates the
worst with Golden Kela Awards by “honoring” Deepika Padukone and Imran Khan.
Bollywood honored the worst in the industry as the prestigious Golden Kela awards for 2011 got announce. This year the honor went to Imran Khan and Deepika Padukone as the two got the Golden Kela award for their performances in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and Aarakshan respectively. Apart from these two stars, who were chose for the lead roles, Prateik Babbar was chosen the worst supporting actor of the year, for his role in Aarakshan and Dum Maro Dum and Chirag Paswan was selected as the worst debutant for his performance in Miley Na Miley Hum.
If there can be a worst debut, there can be a worst comeback like the one by Esha Deol this year, who tried to make it big with Tell Me O Khuda but failed.
The other winners of the Golden Kela awards include Shahrukh Khan’s film Ra.One, which got the award for the worst film of the year. Director Kanti Shah was given the Platinum Kela award for his excellence in cinema.
Though the critically acclaimed actor Pankaj Kapoor may never be considered for this award for his acting skills but he has got Bawra Ho Gaya Ke award this year, for his direction of the flop film of last year Mausam.
The other winners of this year’s Golden Kela awards include, Teri Meri’ from Bodyguard as the Most Irritating Song. While Amitabh Bhattacharyya has been named the lyrist, music composer Pritam was chosen as the worst music director.
Though this is the fourth edition of the Golden Kela awards, last year the organizers of this event decided to encourage those, who try something different in cinema. This year was no different with the organizers announcing the Anti-Kela award to encourage something, which has not been seen in Hindi cinema before. Some winners of Anti- Kela award included Arunodoy Singh, who was praised for his performance in Yeh Zindagi Saali and the makers of Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangste, Shaitan and Shor In The City.
The Golden Kela Awards indicate that the best can only be appreciated if you recognize the worst.
