Mahi Gill to play the role of Mona in Zanjeer remake.
Mahi Gill will step into the shoes of Bindu in the remake of Zanjeer and play the important character of Mona in the film.But, isn’t Mahi Gill taking some risk by accepting a role of vamp in the film. Speaking about taking on this project, Mahi Gill says, “I was initially apprehensive about doing the role because I did not know whether I’d be able to carry it off. But after director Apoorva Lakhia who convinced me, I’m very excited. To recreate the original vamp Mona Darling of the 1970s for today’s audience is a challenge. And most of my scenes are with Prakash Raj who is a very good actor. I think I’ll be able to pull it off.”
Though Mahi Gill will be compared with Bindu when she plays this character in the remake of Zanjeer, the character of Mona played by Mahi will be very different than what was seen in the Amitabh Bachchan starrer. Mahi Gill will showcase the character of modern day vamp and will even have some intimate scenes with Prakash Raj, who plays the role of villain in the film.
A spokesperson for the producers of the film said, “Till now, whenever you think of Mona, the face of Bindu immediately comes to your mind. But we want that after the release of our film, people should associate this character with Mahi.”
The spokesperson added that the producers of the film have asked Mahi Gill to get into shape for this role.

Vamps have always had their place in the industry. Kareena Kapoor tried to get into the shoes of Halen in Don. But Mahi Gill has to be more careful because she is not Kareena.
