Film producers Rajeswari Vendhan has complained to the Tamil Film Producers’ Council (TFPC) about the attitude of actress Disha Pandey who is playing the lead role in the upcoming film Mayanginaen Thayanginaen (MT) produced by her. The producer has said that she has so far incurred losses to the tune of Rs.20 lakhs due to Disha Pandey’s non-cooperative attitude during the making of the film.
Rajeswari has said that the film is almost complete but for a solitary song. Disha Pandey, who debuted in Amudhan’s Tamizhpadam opposite ‘Mirchi’ Siva a couple of years back, was cast as the heroin in the film. “Huge sets costing quite a sum were erected to film a song penned by Yugabharathy. Just when all the arrangements were made and we were about to shoot, Disha Pandey didn’t turn up for the shoot.
“Whenever we got in touch with her, she said she was in Singapore, Malaysia and so on. She had been delaying the shoot of the song for several days. When I spoke to her the alst time, she said that she had changed her manager and that she would be flying back to Chennai from Mumbai only if the new manager asked her to do so.
“When we contacted the manager, we found that his cell-phone had been switched off. As Disha Pandey didn’t turn up to shoot the song, we have incurred losses to the tune of Rs.20 lakhs,” says Rajeswari in her petition. The case is soon to be taken up by the Council which is already facing an uphill task in the wages issue with the warring FEFSI.
