Superstar Rajnikanth’s mega-hit Baasha to release in Hindi in digital mode

Superstar Rajnikanth’s mega-hit Baasha was a trend-setter in the nineties which was the first of the many films which showed the hero in a ‘negative’ role, though not throughout the film. Only after the film’s stupendous success that film-makers had the courage to cast the hero in sundry negative roles but never manage success on the dimensions enjoyed by Rajnikanth’s Baasha.

After many years, Baasha is getting spruced up as its sound has been converted into 5.1 digital mode. The trailer of the Hindi version was released yesterday at the premises of Prasad Labs in the city where a meet-the-press event was also organized. Rajnikanth’s fans, who had assembled in huge numbers in front of the venue, started bursting crackers to celebrate the occasion.

Bhadrakali Movies is releasing the Hindi version of the film. Deva, the music director of the film, was present as a ‘special invitee’ at the trailer release function. The songs of the Hindi version were played out. The title had undergone a complete change and the colour appeared as fresh as morning dew. Dubbing was also of supreme quality; however, it was felt by many that a better choice could have been made while selecting the voice which has dubbed for Rajnikanth.

The song sequences have also been re-worked. The opening song, which in many fan’s view is the best opening song in Rajnikanth’s career, has come out very well in SPB’s memorable voice. The film is likely to hit the screens all over the world on 20th April and would be preceded by a special screening for Rajinikanth who has just returned from London.

Baasha gets a second run!

Producer Badrakali Vara Prasad Rao is gearing up to rerelease Superstar Rajnikanth‘s 1995 blockbuster Baasha, directed by Suresh Krissna in Hindi.

He says, “The film was supposed to have been remade with Big B as soon as the original released. But, Bachchan sir jumped into politics and somehow, the film never got made. I purchased the remake and dubbing rights from the producer before Endhiran released in Hindi as The Robot.

I’ve done colour restoration and DI correction for the film, revamped new intermediate negative and have included new graphics for the title card. The new version will have stereo sound and 5.1 channel. Composer Deva has re-recorded for the Hindi version.”
